Facebook: Attack of the Clones

Everything in the Internet seems to be copied or cloned in one way or another. Just like what is happening to the social-networking site Facebook. In its bid to go global, it is facing off against itself. A lot of Facebook-like social-networking sites have popped out around the world. Most of these sites are published in the local language of a country which is one big obstacle that Facebook will face once it try to set foot on a particular country.

Officials of the company are confident that they can hurdle this challenge since they have more resources which they can use in improving their site compared to those copycats who are just starting up. Also, Facebook will be extending its translation tools to developers or outside programmers who write applications for the website.

In many English-language countries, Facebook dominates the social-networking market. But in countries where English is not the native tongue, Facebook is gaining ground more slowly.
